With every patient, we begin with identifying the “why” behind his or her problem and/or pain. Our ability to assess the area of inflammation — and importantly, what has caused the inflammation and the many possible variables that might be linked to that process — is the cornerstone of our evaluative process, and a key point of distinction for Backfit. We make no assumptions, instead dealing with each case on its own.
Dr. Tarpoff has been extensively trained in both the assessment and conservative treatment of many musculoskeletal disorders. There is no “one size fits all” care plan here. We pride ourselves on selecting the best approach for each individual patient.
At Backfit, the treatment is primarily done manually, through patient education and exercise. Utilizing the principles of the Fascial Distortion Model, Dr. Tarpoff treats the injury directly, then through constant re-assessment will create a home exercise plan for the patient to follow.
Vital to our approach is patient education and self-care. We want to help you with your problem, and importantly, teach you how to keep it from coming back. We will teach you about your pain, help you not be afraid of it, and teach you how to move to keep it from returning. Almost every case involving muscle or joint pain needs some level of strengthening exercise education. We will make sure you are doing the right exercises for your situation and your level of ability.
